Just got back from one heck of a productive week that took me to Liberty, NY, “Regis & Kelly”, XM Radio’s NYC Studio, Charlottesville, Virginia & finally home to Nashville…
So… this all started after last week’s amazing radio run through Kansas & Oklahoma where I visited a slew of country music stations in the midwest before driving all the way to Columbia, SC for a charity show (2400 miles in one week… wow), but enough about last week… let’s get to this week.
I flew to the Big Apple (not to be confused with The Little Apple, which is Manhattan, KS… ah… the things you learn while traveling the country on a radio tour) on Monday afternoon & rented a nice very lil’ compact car for a 2 hour drive through some beautiful NY country side to Liberty, NY. Why Liberty, NY?? Well I am glad you asked… I travelled to Liberty, NY because that is where I got to be Tuesday morning’s guest DJ on Thunder102FM’s Morning Drive Show “Ciliberto & Friends”… which was pretty awesome! Paul, Michelle & I had a great time tradin’ stories & tellin’ little white lies… & I can’t wait to do it again!
After “Ciliberto & Friends” I drove back down to NYC… it is an amazingly beautiful drive… like insanely picturesque… for a trip to SiriusXM Radio’s Headquarters in downtown New York. I was shown around by Al Skop, who is one of the big dogs at SiriusXM’s Highway Country Station, & although I didn’t get to meet my usual radio road companion Howard Stern I did get to see where the door to The Stern Show is located… which was a pretty amazing to me.
The next morning I got to back up Jewel on “Live w/ Regis & Kelly”, which was both stressful & lots of fun. I say stressful because it is always hard on your vocals, etc. playing on any early morning show & I say fun because hey it was a nationally broadcast TV show with Jewel.
Only real bummer was that Regis was on vacation… well maybe next time.
As soon as I got done with the “Regis(less)” performance I ran over to La Guardia & caught a quick flight down to Charlottesville, VA where I got to play the lovely Jefferson Theatre with Brantley Gilbert. The show was packed, Brantley was nothing but kind & considering I was running on fumes I don’t think my performance was too terrible… so I will give the whole experience a grade of B+.
& now here I am lyin’ on the couch with two very small dogs crashing out at my feet & nothing to do but fall asleep… so until next time… get lucky & much love!
