Summer in the South

Hey Guys & Gals -

Happy July everyone… not sure about your neck of the woods but here in Nashville it is currently 90 degrees with 90% humidity at 10:30PM… which as you can probably guess is pretty dang hot.

Other than the weather I must confess this summer has been pretty great for me here in Nashvegas… I have been writin’ as much as I possibly can, workin’ on the final release details of my album “Numbers”, co-producing Jason Michael Carroll’s upcoming album, starting to work on Whitney Duncan’s next album, finishing up an EP for Texas artist Django Walker & finally playin’ a few of my own shows… so it’s been a very busy & productive start to another “Summer in the South”.

Now… upcoming… I have a few shows in SC (Bishopville on July 22nd, Columbia in Sept. & The SC State Fair w/ Darius Rucker in October), NC (Charlotte August 28th) & then in Nashville (Sept. 4th at The Bluebird, Sept. 24th at The Tin Roof opening for Pat Green & Oct. 22nd for a Gamecock Pre Vandy Game Show), tons of studio work & a good bit of songwriting… so stay in touch & keep an eye on the site for more happenings.

As most of you by now know my home for the past 9 years, Nashville, TN, was hit by what some weather folks are calling a 500 or 1000 year flood this past weekend… one that has displaced up to 100,000 Middle Tennessee area residents and left Nashville’s famous landmarks, such as the Grand Ole Opry, Opryland Hotel, Lower Broadway, etc., covered in foot after foot of flood water & caked in layers upon layers of mud & clay.

My wife & I were some of the lucky ones… with only a couple of feet of water reaching the lowest level of our home, but many other Nashville & Middle Tennessee residents were not so lucky and they lost cars, clothes, appliances, homes, dreams & for some even loved ones…

“NUMBERS” PRE-ORDER & SHOWS!

My new album “Numbers” is fast approaching the finish line… and what better way to celebrate it’s upcoming release than with 2 Special CD Pre – Release Shows on April 23rd in Charlotte, NC at The Evening Muse & April 24th in Columbia, SC at The White Mule.  The actual Itunes, Amazon, etc. release date is not until late May, but I figure those of you who have supported me through the years in SC & NC deserve a little respect… so YOU will be able to get a hold of it 1st.  In fact… I have packaged a “CD + Ticket” combo deal for the each of the shows that makes sure that as soon as you walk through the door on April 23rd in Charlotte or April 24th in Columbia you will get your own copy!!

“Numbers” is made up of 12 little numbers… ha… including “Life’s the People that You Love”, “Lucky”, “Summer in the South” & 9 other tracks recorded with my amazing Nashville studio band and the help of a few of my lovely & very talented friends.  Anyways…  PRE-ORDERS are up right now for any of you folks who will not be in the Carolinas on April 23rd & 24th & I am workin’ on a few more “CD Release & Pre-Release” shows throughout the Southeast & Texas in May, June & July… so keep your eyes and ears open for those updates!!

England & Wales Update & March Happenings

Enjoyin’ day 13 of 14 on my UK songwritin’ trip with a stop in the sea port town of Brighton, England… where the weather is fairly bad but the pubs are absolutely amazing!!  Since I arrived I have been lucky enough to help pen 10 tunes… 4 with my pal Charlotte Church & 6 others with some of my English artist mates… Lotte Mullan, Rhys Morgan, Jake Field & others.   So.. great trip… & I will definitely be headin’ back over sooner than later.

And… now for my upcoming action back in the states… I am playin’ Austin, TX on Monday night the 1st & then Friday night the 5th I will be in Camden, SC for the 2nd Annual Roger Rules Nashville Songwriter’s Night w/ Jason Michael Carroll & Whitney Duncan… & then on Sunday night the 7th I will be Augusta, GA for a benefit show with my friends Pat Green, Mark Bryan of Hootie & the Blowfish & Ed Roland of Collective Soul… so hopefully I will see some of you guys out and about!!

Shows & Songwritin’ Update

Got shows comin’ up in Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee & Georgia… which include dates with Jason Michael Carroll, Steel Magnolia & Robert Earl Keen… so check those out!!!  & on the songwriting front I have been writin’ with my pals Darius Rucker, Josh Kelley, Jason Michael Carroll, Whitney Duncan & others in hopes of landing a song or two on their upcoming albums… & I am even headin’ over to the UK in February for some writin’ with Charlotte Church for her late 2010 release… so life is pretty busy… but also pretty darn good.  And oh yeah… I am also slowly finishin’ up my new album “Numbers”… bout 3/4 of the way done!

Happy New Year Everybody!!

Ok… ok… I have to admit 2009 was a pretty good year for me… I was fortunate enough to have songs on releases by Pat Green, Jason Michael Carroll, Jewel & Guy Clark and I even had my ode to my hometown of Camden, SC, “Where I’m From”, hit the TOP 10 of the Country Radio SIngles Chart for my friend Jason Michael Carroll… so once again… yeah… my year didn’t suck… BUT with that being said I must acknowledge the fact that I am very very excited for what lies farther on up the road!!! I mean I just can’t wait to see what songs are waitin’ to be written, what adventures are waitin’ to be taken and what memories are waitin’ to be made in Twenty Ten… it’s gonna be fun… a year filled with a new album this Spring, shows throughout the Southeast and Texas this summer & endless possibilities to follow… in the immortal words of Springsteen… “where the river flows… tomorrow never knows”.
