Patrick Davis

Notes on a Southern Songwriter

2010 finds Patrick Davis in the midst of diligently writing, recording & producing music for both himself and others. Davis’ song “Where I’m From”, co-written with friend and collaborator Joe Leathers, was released to country radio by rising country music star Jason Michael Carroll in 2009 and made it all the way to Country Radio’s Top 10. Davis also has the closing track, “Be Wary of a Woman” on Darius Rucker’s debut Capitol Records release “Learn to Live”, which hit #1 on the Billboard Country Music Chart & has so far sold over 1.5 million copies, 2 tracks on Pat Green’s most recent BNA Records Nashville Release, “What I’m For”, a stand out cut on Jewel’s 2009 release “Lullaby”, multiple tracks on upcoming projects by both Jason Michael Carroll & Pat Green and 2 co-writes on legendary singer songwriter Guy Clark’s latest album “Somedays the Song Writes You”.

Over the past 4 years Patrick has scaled back his touring itinerary to only headlining shows in select markets in the Southeast, but has in years past not only toured the Southeast, but much of the country as a support act for Hootie and the Blowfish, Edwin McCain, Pat Green and other well known acts.

Patrick was signed to EMI Music Publishing in 2006 and since that signing has earned double digit songwriting cuts by the aforementioned Carroll, Green, Jewel, Rucker, Guy Clark, former Sony Nashville Artist Caitlin & Will, former BR549 front man Chuck Meade, Texas legend Cory Morrow, new Sony Nashville artist Chris Janson and others.

Patrick pens tunes with a wide range of artists and writers, including Robert Randolph, Matt Kearney, Whitney Duncan, Josh Kelley, Guy Clark, Julianne Hough, Dallas Davidson, Jason Michael Carroll, Dave Berg, David Wilcox, Radney Foster, Darius Rucker, David Lee, Pat Green, Jewel, Cory Morrow, Harley Allen, Brett James, Lady Antebellum, Jeffrey Steele, Tim Nichols and many of the top songwriters in Nashville, NY, LA and Texas.

Patrick got his professional start in songwriting in 2005 with 2 co-writes on Texan Cory Morrow’s “Nothing Left To Hide” album and then followed that up with 4 tracks on Pat Green’s 2006 major label release “Cannonball”, including the critically acclaimed single “Dixie Lullaby”, which had a successful run on the Country Radio Charts in 2007.

Patrick’s 1st, and to date only properly released album, Chances Are, was produced by Mark Bryan, guitarist for Hootie and the Blowfish and was released independently in late 2003.  He is planning on “officially” releasing his latest work, NUMBERS, in late Summer or early Fall of 2010.

Before signing his publishing deal in 2006, Patrick played nearly 200 dates each year.

Playing music is the only job he has ever had.

Patrick learned to play the guitar in high school and was influenced from a young age by his father, Rusty Davis, a guitar player and local music shop owner.

Originally from Camden, SC, Patrick Davis has lived in Nashville, TN since 2002.

Patrick loves the South Carolina Gamecocks, Dallas Cowboys & Atlanta Braves.
